I used to run everywhere when I was a kid. Then I started smoking. What an idiot. 25 years on I'm off the smokes and have rediscovered my love of running. I am slowly getting fitter and feeling a lot better. 3 months ago I would run 50 meters and feel like dying, now I can run 5 km. My main goal is to run 10 km without stopping. I don't care about time. It's the distance that matters to me. Time comes later. Everyday I tell myself. Keep Pushing! Don't give up! You can do it!

good work, bro. Although you are on the average heart rate of near death. Some hills involved or something ? p.s. have a Quest on order -- eager to use footpod and understand TE -- neither works with M4.

My Max HR is supposed to be 177 but i've had it up to 220 so that blows that theory out of the water. lol. I run with a cadence of 72-80 BPM. Very Slow. That gives me 8 KMH speed with 7min 30 sec per KM time. My breath is a constant 3 steps in, 3 steps out for the whole run. Not laboured at all. I sit on about 165 HR on the way out and just over 170 on the way in. There is a slight grade for the last KM. About 4 degrees I suppose. I feel fantastic when I am doing it.

When I first started doing it I averaged about 180 -190 and that was with walking half as much as running. It took nearly 6 min to drop My HR back to around 100. Now I run the full 5KM without stopping and my HR is back to 100 in about 90 seconds. I guess that means I'm getting fitter. I only gave up smoking 6 weeks ago. lol I just do what feels good and right. I haven't felt this good in 10 years. lol.

Congrats on hitting the 10 km mark. Just started out -- a lot of wheezing and cursing to come before I get there. Keep it up.
