I fumbled my watch and accidentally stopped the Tri activity after the swim. So this forms the swim section and the other moves for this day form the other parts.

    So I completed the whole thing in a shade over 1h 30m. I finished 50th out of 108 (19th in my category). The distances and times, including transitions were: 750m swim (0.5miles) = 19min 31secs Transition 1 = 3mins 29secs 21km cycle (13miles) = 44mins 18secs Transition 2 = 1min 7secs 5km run (3miles) = 22mins 12secs

I had a terrible start to the swim which cost me precious minutes. We started in the lake and as soon as we set off my left goggle started letting water in. This, compounded with unexpected shallow breathing from the water temperature, gave me a lot of trouble for the first 25% of the swim.

Eventually I managed to somehow fix the goggle and then preceded to absolutely smash the swim. I ended up finishing in the middle of the pack.

After an incredibly dizzy T1 I set off on the bike. As soon as I set off I s...

    22.6.2015

Aimed for this to be a short little walk along the coastline, starting at Buck's Mill. Our first mistake was assuming that Buck's Mill was still an active fishing village. Our second was thinking 2.5 miles across a large-stone coast line would be fun. Terrible, so difficult! We did however come across some cool cliff faces, waterfalls etc.

The way back though.. that was superb, 2.5 miles back through thick coastal forest, a path way cutting through a steep valley. The entire way we were sheltered by canopy with the occasional hole in the trees revealing pretty incredible vistas of the ocean below.

As soon as I set off I sucked down an energy gel. I later found that to be a great idea as the cycle took me just 44 minutes - which is about the time the gel kicked in. Perfect timing for the run. Anyway, the cycle was a pretty flat course which allowed me to catch up on time lost from the swim. T2 felt pretty swift apart from me getting a little lost in the transition - thankfully my friend shouted from the side lines to guide me to my trainers. The run, well that was best of all. I don't know where I pulled the energy from (probably that gel) but I bossed round the 5km in 22 minutes which is WAY better than I was expecting. Overall a really positive experience (apart from the 4:30am start)!

Here it is! My first ever 100 mile cycle. Lasted so freakin' long that the watch ran out of battery which is really annoying. Never the less what a superb day! We started out in cannon hill park, Birmingham. From there we made our way down south, passing through the Cotswolds to then skirt round Warwick and Stratford before finally coming back up through Solihull. This was probably the hardest thing that I've ever done, some of those climbs - wow. If you view the elevation you'll see what I mean. I think one of the climbs was cat. 4 and it got so bad that my leg muscles felt like they were popping. When we eventually finished (having got knocked back by 2 heavy storms) I could barely stand up. All that being said, I think I'll do another in October! Massive big up to my main man Seb who had to put up with me winging about my back for 99 miles!

First ever event, 10km run. Absolutely great day, great atmosphere. Felt hard and looking at these stats I can see why. Not the fastest time in the event by a long way but they say you run your own race and I'm proud of the time for a starting benchmark. Anyone can do it once though..
