    Tough day! Had a good swim and felt really strong on the bike until my chain broke at 70km. Took 6 minutes to get it fixed (service car came). That considered it was a really fast bike split and I would most likely have been the fastest rider in my age group without the chain problem. Pretty exactly 6 minutes from it now.

    Then the run.... I went out feeling strong but heck that did not last for long. Already after 2km I started to melt down pretty heavily. Struggled really badly, actually don't remember ever suffering that badly on the run before. It was an energy and heat problem. My head was not clear and I could just not focus on keeping up the running pace. Running with crawling pace I went on and in the middle of the run it seemed to become a 4+ hour marathon and a 10+ hour race. However I got some energy going into my head and was able to speed up in the last 10km just barely to avoid that humiliation :o).

    All in all I'm ok with the race as the swim and the bike was good....

    Cold water...brrrr. Most likely the last openwater swim in Finland for the season. Next swim a bit warmer in Kona in October...

Using GPS accuracy GOOD you can reach around 16 hours.
