    Debated whether to do this race after Transvulcania last week but went ahead anyway. Weather was worse than last year with high winds, also the ground was a lot wetter. Watch came out with 53kms however this was incorrect! Certainly felt it in my legs after last week but still managed to run it 5 minutes quicker than last year so overall I'm ok with that!

    A longer skate this morning; weather was lovely. Tracks not in bad condition considering the temperature has been higher than the seasonal normal. The river is starting to melt so the entire route may not be open for much longer. Stopped at Rautuskyla for a coffee but still the quickest I've done this route. S-Lab skis.

    Happy Easter! A glorious morning for a quick freestyle before the crowds of Easter Sunday; tracks were in good condition in most parts. Felt really good and can tell how much my fitness continues to improve.

      Watch was playing up and kept losing the signal and getting confused!! Transvulcania completed and over the moon!! A brutal race to say the least!!

      Ultimate trail 110km; time and speed need adjusted once the results are in as I forgot to stop my watch and ended up driving with it still recording!! A tough and great event which I thoroughly enjoyed. Had a hard fall at 20km which did my hip, knee and wrist in so speed was a bit slower than planned. A great feeling when crossing that finish line.

      CTS Northumberland Coastal Ultra; first race since September! Felt good up to the marathon distance but lost a little on the later section. Broke my Marathon PB by 37 minutes (4:58) so very happy with that. Overall a good race with a lot of running on sand.

      Another gorgeous day!! Slightly slower speed but as it was a lot longer than normal I'm OK with that!! Tracks were hard going at the start but got better as the temperature warmed up. Not too busy but that was probably because I was away from the village. Really enjoyable, felt a little tired towards the end but that was understandable. Oh yeah this was my 900th move too :))

      Ashmei 29km trail race which turned out to be 32km due to going off route at one point!! Started in horrendous weather with really heavy rain but got better. Trails were very wet underfoot but that was to be expected. This is the longest run so far and I really enjoyed it although I did suffer somewhat towards the end. Really pleased with coming 31st out of 88.

      Kentmere 17k (although my Ambit measured 18!!), a hot day with a nice breeze blowing. As can be seen from the graph there was a lot of climbing. Seemed to be a very fast paced race. Trails were a little wet but generally OK. This race does have a 'sting in the tail' which is a climb about 1.5kms from home. For the first time ever I got cramp in both calfs about 500m from the finish but that was probably caused by the fact I only landed back in the UK late on Thursday night. Happy enough with my time but sure I will go quicker at Grasmere next week!

      The first ever Grasmere Gallop 17km race; certainly through stunning scenery with several hills to climb! Weather was very hot which made it even more challenging. I took almost 10 minutes off my time from last week although it was 1km shorter; certainly happier than last week. Waiting for my race position as I type!

    • Trail running 1:25'44.9 Average heart rate 178 bpm, 13.19 km
      Borrowdale 13km trail run. Weather conditions were ideal however after the torrential rain on Saturday the trails were wet which made it interesting to say least! Once again I was taken with the pack and went too fast too early and paid for it later. The hill into the forest was a real killer! Have to be pleased with 34th out of over 90 starters. Best result so far but still have work to do especially on my hills.

      Final skiing move of this season :( Went out by myself skating and really enjoyed myself. The weather was superb and snow was in excellent condition, what more could I want!! Skating technique has really improved over the last 10 days and I may have to purchase a pair of roller skis for the summer :)

      A great day at the Kielder 10k. A good field of over 500 competitors. Weather was ideal with good cloud cover and a bit of a breeze. After the first 1km it was up hill which was interesting! Overall the course was very undulating and a bit wet. I'd certainly do this event again :)

      First time on this route; ground was so wet that at points I was up to my knees in peat! Very hard running due to the conditions hence the slow average speed. Overall it was very enjoyable and will help towards training for 2013 Chevy Chase :) Paused my Ambit and forgot to restart at one point so missed off about 1km which was a bit annoying!!

      Set off from the North side of Levi and headed up to Maria-Leena for a stop. Then continued on towards Kongas but turned South and back down passed Tonttula and back to Levi. Snowed heavily all the way but the MInttu Helped with the conditions :-) Excellent day enjoyed by both of us :-)
