    Thanks! Mt Sahale.... Is a beautiful mountain in the North Cascdaes. About a three hour drive from my place in Canada... More than a few times the boarder guards ask why I do not just ski at home.

    Excellent outing John! Way to go, you should feel psyched even if your body is worked. I know the feeling on that very similar run...those hills are ruthless. :)

      Hi Brad, Yes, I've been fortunate to be testing and reviewing products for The HeartRate Watch Company here in Bozeman. Great company, BTW. I've been reviewing from "the common man" perspective as I'm not super-duper techno savvy (but I'm learning!) My personal favorites so far are the Polar RCX5 and the Ambit. Haven't tried the Polar w/GPS yet. Battery life hope is OK. Love the Ambit, but I don't like how it fits my wrist. Sometimes it almost seems like too much watch! Have fun!

      I would have considered the Polar but no baro altimeter was a deal breaker for me.

      That is why I keep coming back to Suunto. Tried a 910XT and it was a disaster. Could rally get reliable elevation data. Other Garmins are not worth it to me.

    Barometer v2.1

    This is an improved version of my Barometer app. Algorithm inaccuracy now less than 1hPa up to 4000 meter altitude (Ambit sensor inaccuracy not included). This is my attempt to make a barometer that displays the barometric pressure at your location. You can also simulate a barometer by setting your reference altitude to zero in the standard Ambit. But it is really nice and more convenient to have a barometer view with all three key parameters available at the same time in the screen: altitude, atmospheric pressure (AP) and sea level pressure (QNH). Make your custom training mode and include all these, like I did! On my wish list, but not implemented yet, is an altitude trim term to correct for air humidity, air temperature and sensor errors. Trim can be done by setting altitude and pressure simultaneously and independently to known values. The trim coefficient can then be calculated and subsequent altimeter operation will be more accurate. Currently the trim is fixed at factory cali...
