Karate, blue belt test - and I f*en got it! It was not easy at all, starting from kihon (basic techniques) to kata (imagenary fight) to kumite (actually blocking and kicking ass of the real opponent). I was a bit tense, but it's not really easy to relax during that can kind of exercise and under evaluation of sensei and mates. Anyway, challenge completed and time to create new targets...

My first 1/2 triathlon. 1.9 + 90 + 21.2 km. Official time 5'56'50.5. Swimming 0'43'00, Cycling 3:17'10 and running 1:56'42. Swimming was quite close to martial arts training; lot of hits and kicks both taken and given in rush to find your own passage. Cycling was otherwise easy, but I had no experience on cycling such a long distances before. I took it quite easy and was able to increase my pace with running and now I can be proud of how EPOC curve ends.

Discussion about running, meaning of life, bad jokes and lot of bullshit in a small, smelly cabin took of course much more time than running itself. Wonderful, cheering crowd, live music, Finnish flaqs whiping everywhere, it's incredible cool and can't be expressed by words only! Also the weather was merciful this year, cloudy and around +16C. Partying after the running, tasty unhealthy food, beer, champagne, more beer, malt whisky...and no hangover! Running in Stockholm was again a great experience. Helsinki City Run. After being sick the whole April it felt really good to have a long distance run. I took target to run under 1:45 and I'm happy to see that it was realistic one. I still dream of running Stockholm Mararhon under 3:30, but I doubt that remaining 3 weeks is enough training time to find my normal pace again. However, weather was perfect, running was mostly quite easy and end result is better than expected. Wine will taste better tonight than normally. And I love wine. :-)

Ekat 25 km melkoista hissuttelua eli alle 20 km/h. Muutoin eka 100 km oli oikein mukavaa menoa 32km/h ryhmän mukana. Jossain 110 km kohdalla kova vastatuuli ja hapottuvat reidet saivat mielen taipumaan ja hidastin vauhtia perille pääsyn varmistamiseksi. Voimat palautuivat aika hyvin viimeiselle kympille, mutta loppupätkä kaupunkialueella oli käytännössä kapeassa jonossa ajamista autojen suhahdellessa vierestä. 30 km/h keskivauhti on siinä ja siinä, saas nähdä mikä on virallinen loppuaika.

This gives stable estimation, which is reactive to speed changes and time left. Check code lines 1-7 to check the math. After 12 minutes it BEEPS and shows the end result.

    • Cat Hunt -pelissä on tarkoitus metsästää kissoja. Peli käyttää hyväkseen gps-paikannusta ja Internet-pohjaista ranking-listaa. Pelialue on 500x500 metriä, joka luodaan käynnistämisen yhteydessä ympärillesi. Pelissä pelaaja näkee etäisyyden kissaan, mutta ole tarkkana sillä kissa juoksee noin metrin sekunnissa. Aina kissan kiinni saatuaan pelaaja voi syöttää pelin antaman koodin sivustolle, ja näin pelaaja saa lisää tietoja suorituksestaan, uusia kissa-suoritusmerkintöjä sekä pääsee ranking-listalle. ----- This game is about hunting cats. The game area is 500 m * 500 m. from that area you have to find a cat which running away (about 1 meter per second). You only have information about distance. When you found it the next cat appears. The game gives you code and you can insert it to web page. The web page shows you what kind of cats you caught! ---- http://130.234.191.160:8443/kissi/

    • This App shows you the estimated Finish Time for 140 km race. Formula is below. In practice it means that in the beginning of the race the estimation is mostly dependent on average speed and in the later phase shifts to recent pace. This gives you stable and yet resposive feedback. forecastSpeed = (SUUNTO_SPEED_AVG[30] * progress) + (SUUNTO_AVG_SPD * left) If you ride a longer route than the race distance is then the App begins to show duration instead of estimate.

    • This App let's you race against the virtual runner. You can set the virtual runner's pace from 5'30 to 4'00 min/km by pressing a lap button. Each button press equals to 10 seconds faster pace. The App shows you the opponent's pace for the first 100 m. "530" refers to "5'30 min/km" and "400" to "4'00 min/km". When the distance 0,1 km is reached, the Racer shows you the distance difference to the opponent. For example "10 m" means that the virtual runner is 10 meters behind you and "-15 m" means that you are 15 meters behind the virtual runner.

    • This App is calculating the net benefit of the exercise in kcal. It's using the Revised Harris-Benedict-Equation for calculating the amount of energy expended at rest. The app subtracts this basal metabolic rate from the total kcal and shows you the net benefit of your exercise. Unfortunately, it's not possible to use height as variable. Thus Formula uses constant height of 180cm. This should be close enough for most of us, including myself (188cm). • This forecast is responsive to speed changes during the race. There are clear benefits for using current lap pace based forecast for finish time. E.g. first minutes are often slower, because of traffic, and thus average speed is clearly behind target in early race. Don't panic, ski faster when you can and you get quickly new realistic forecast from this App. Check values below. Average speed based estimates are also often too optimistic in late race. This App reacts quickly to pace drop and gives you early warning.

Don't panic, stride faster when you can and you get quickly new realistic forecast from this App. Check values below. This App reacts quickly to pace drop and gives you early warning. It's again time to stride faster to reach your target! I made this forecast based on my own experience in long distance running. This is something that I have calculated always during the race to estimate how it will end up. In future, I let this App handle the calculations for me. I hope you find it useful too!
