First part Berlin marathon. As planned, 1:25h, but could have been much better if I had a "chosen" the start group C instead of D. But feels good and very confident for tomorrow's run which I am planning to do in 3:00hours.

Shot in the dark! Last intervals before Berlin skate and run marathons. Felt really really good today. Legs are ok now, massaging and pilates rolling have done the job.

      juu, jänöseksi oli tilausta, mutta kaveri jonka kyydissä mun piti lähtee sinne, ei nyt vissiinkään ole menossa. Eikä mulla niin kova hinku ole, että lähtisin sinne yksin ajeleen... Eli jäänee nyt sit väliin se homma.

      ryhmään liityin, mutta hiihtokisoihin en vielä uskalla ilmoittautua. Katotaan ensin kuin täällä pystyy reenaamaan... Ja toi matka on vähän pitkä yhen kisan takia, pitäis keksiä sitten muutakin puuhaa samalle reissulle. Vähän polttelis kyllä päästä ladulle...

      Toivotaan, että tulee tällä kertaa hyvä hiihtotalvi! Mun kaverit on tuossa järjestäjinä ja on "velvollisuus" nyt hiihtää se 70km. :-) Ollaan käyty yhessä reenaamassakin jne. Tervasta aiotaan tehdä taas Suomen suurin tapahtuma. Olishan se viimeinkin hauska tavata! :-)

      kävin kattoon sen blogin, mukavan näköistä menoa :) Jotain sellasta mäkihyppelyä varmaan pitäis alkaa tekemään. Mulla on ylipäänsä lihaskunto jäänyt tosi vähälle viime aikoina. Mut en oikeen hiffannu, kuka siinä oli kirjoittaja. Pitää sitten miettiä tota Tervaa, mutta erittäin jyrkkä ehkä tässä vaiheessa...

      Kiitti! Lähdin tosiaan kokeilemaan pikku riskillä, että meniskö ennätys uusiksi, mutta kyllä se edellispäivän luistelukisa veti jalat pökkelöksi. Mutta yllättävän hyvä aika, joten pitää olla tyytyväinen. Kokonaiskisassa muuten pronssille :)

      no juu, yllättävän hyvin kulki juoksu. Alun perin tosiaan aattelin, että juoksukondis ei olis ihan tikissä ja kolmosella alkavaankin voi olla tyytyväinen. Hieman kismittää, että ei tullu enkkaa, mutta ehkä kokonaiskisan pronssi (kunhan se tulee postissa) vähän lieventää tuskaa :)

    Joroinen half triathlon.

    Triathlon 5:01'59 Average heart rate 150 bpm, 113.1 km.
    It was 113,1km to Joroinen "city, we had a full tank of maltodextrin, the sun was shining and we were wearing sunglasses :) Joroinen half triathlon, the target was to break the 5h, but due to bad cramps during the running sequence, it could not make it. Maybe the next time... Horseback riding=swimming, because of the fault of openwater swimming activity. Keskeytin moven vahingossa, joten juoksuosuudesta suurin osa on toisessa movessa...

    Multisport 7:25'35.8 Average heart rate 126 bpm, 88.20 km.
    run 3,7+9,6=13,3km, mnt biking 59km, canoeing 14km, run 1,7km. Multisport training with Pasi, Janne and Mika. Started from Karkkila at 9 in the mornin and ended in Pasi's cottage at 16:30. Really great weather, did mainly use nice little gravel roads and rooty trails in the national park, only few kilometers of asphalt roads. And afterwards sauna and some frosty beers. Could have maintained more speed, but this was just convenient, even had time to take a couple photos. More of this, please :)

    Nordic skating national masters

    Roller skating 1:21'30.4 Average heart rate 163 bpm, 38.00 km.
    Nordic roller skating national masters at Turku Kakskerta. 4th place, again. Very tough start, I decided to try to hang on in a leading group as long as I could and I did about 6km... After couple of kms I reached one skater, with whom I did skate the most of the race. After 28km I decided to make a short pull to get rid of the opponent and it did succeed, so 4th place was the result. Could have been a bit faster, but no change to reach the 3rd place. Nice weather and a great asphalt! :)

    Stockholm marathon 2012

    Running 3:02'55.1 Average heart rate 159 bpm, 42.21 km.
    Ruotsi on paska maa (Seppo Rätyä mukaillen). Stockholm marathon, awful weather +4-7C, raining all the time, wind even 13m/s. Not nice experience, even if I usually don't care about the weather. However, with a better tactique the 3hrs could have been reachable, but it didn't happen today. Almost fainted in last 5km's, so have to be pleased I reached the finish line... Position 396, last year 412 (3:02hrs), a little bit comfort for the wounds :) Footpod measured 42,18km, pretty well.

    Victorinox Spring adventure

    Adventure racing 6:31'22.9 Average heart rate 137 bpm, 75.22 km.
    Victorinox Spring Adventure multisport race in Karkkila. Huh. More in the "story behind the move". Placement 15th in the race series (among 32 teams), has to be satisfied as being a first timer. If someone is interested in the next tour challenges, see www.multisport.fi/ First 7,5km traditional orienteering, then mountain biking to Alhovuori (local down hill skiing center). Running 4 times up and down (60-80m altitude each). Bike orienteering 'till 4h30min, at the start we missed our EMIT card and had to go back to Alhovuori all the way uphill to get it (10km/30min). Lucky we even found it :) 1h 30 min kayaking, there was quite windy and the water was a bit cold... So I had to try how cold (slipped in the water down to my neck, luckily did not drown the hole kayak. Then back to race center, the race time was almost gone. Decided still to go and carry out the river crossing with a rope, so a little bit running there and back. Finished the race only a minute over the maximum time (6h30min), but of course got some penalty for the unfinished last running course. Fu...ng great!     Berlin marathon

    Running 2:52'32 Average heart rate 159 bpm, 42.20 km.
    Berlin marathon. New personal record by 5min. Position 645 in all competitors and something like 150 in M40. Made couple of stupid things, the first was with the position in start and the second was to be "sleepwalking" between 10 and 15 km. Otherwise quite happy about the result, but there is still things to do before I could quit chasing the records... But today Oktoberfest should make my day :)

    Helsinki City Marathon 2013

    Helsinki City marathon and my 1000. move on Movescount, almost by accident :). The position on M40 was 3rd wihich was a huge surprice for me. The whole race position 58. The plan was to start quite moderately and after halfway accelerate a bit. And the load of the race should have remain quite moderate, because my main target this year is the Berlin marathon in September. Well as in real life just shit happens and I couldn't (of course) follow the plan exactly... The first 21km felt so easy that I couldn't hold the horses. And on the second half I did rise my heart rate a bit, but that didn't quite affect on my speed. Last 10km were quite painful as always, but on purpose I din't push the pace although I could (a bit). On 41 km I had 5mins to go under 3h, so I did decide to try... which might cause me some huge cramps on both calfs.     Roller skating 1:19'26 Average heart rate 160 bpm, 38.02 km.
    Kakskerran luistelu in Turku. Nice weather and very relaxed skating. Most of the time I was in 4 skaters group and mostly making the pace. Placement 2nd in 38km Nordic skating and also my new record on that route. Me very happy!

    No Limit adventure race

    Adventure racing 5:31'23.4 Average heart rate 147 bpm, 61.70 km.
    No Limit-seikkailukisa Veikkolassa, Jannen parina tällä kertaa. Sijoitus oli neljäs 24 joukkueen sarjassa. Pronssista jäätiin n. 10s, joka tuntuu vähän samalta kuin Mietaan kuuluisa sadasosasekunti näin pitkällä reissulla. Hyvä fiilis joka tapauksessa, taakse jäi iso joukko kovia nimiä, mm. hiihtosuunnistuksen maajoukkueen kavereita. Lajeina oli juoksu, maastopyöräily ja kajakkimelonta sekä useamman kerran purossa, järvessä ja suossa vyötäröä myöden kahlaaminen. Enemmän stooria tulee, kunhan jaksan kirjoitella. Ambit jäi muutaman kerran pauselle ja lajit ei välttämättä ole ihan just oikein, matkaa tuli taitettua arviolta vajaat 62km. Sykemittarin räplääminen ei ollut lajin vaihtuessa aina ekana mielessä :)

    HCR 2013

    Helsinki City Run, half marathon. Position in M40 was 20 (last year 21). Felt a litlle bit sick the day before and in the morning, too. We had some stomach complaint circulating our family, but somehow managed to survive with just little symptoms. The weather was great and as the start was getting closer my condition was getting a lot better. The plan was to run 4:00min/km the first 2 km and then try to accelerate a bit if it feels good. Then try to keep an even pace until in the end (of course) make a long painful spurt after 15km... I think my plan was working because I managed to run my new personal record by 1min 16s. I was also testing my new Ambit2S, in which I had uploaded a half marathon counter. I think it worked quite well and helped me keep an even pace. For the next time I have to configure the display a bit, to see both the counter and the distance measured by GPS. Now there was some difference between it and the organizer's km-poles, so that big record was a bit of a surprice in the end. Which was also nice thing :) All in all, nice race again (as HCR has always been) and very happy of a good solid run. I am sure there is still some potential in me to improve the record, if next time the preparation before would succeed a bit better.

    Roller skating 0:42'18.7 Average heart rate 161 bpm, 20.00 km.
    Sauvarulliksen SM-kisat Ahveniston moottoriradalla. Startista minuutin päästä alkoi kaatosade, radasta tuli ihan v..n liukas ja kisa keskeytettiin n. 40 minuutiksi (tästä oma move). Toinen startti aloitettiin kaikki samalta viivalta hieman kuivuneella radalla. Rataa oli lyhennetty kolmesta kahteen km:iin, pahin lasku ja nousu oli oikaistu pois. Liukasta oli silti, mutta maaliin asti ilman kommelluksia. Kolmen kärki karkasi jo alussa. Neljän sakissa vedettiin loput 15km ja loppukirillä neloseksi.

    Running 3:01'57.1 Average heart rate 163 bpm, 42.20 km.
    Stockholm marathon. Really painful race, as the marathon should be :) Was ready to start walking after 30km, then I got one cheer, which made me to go on running. GPS measured the route 43.79km and also the average speed was not right all along the race. Not nice. Despite this, this was the best I could do today. 15minutes better than my first marathon (Vantaa 2010) and happy about it.

    Movescount sends a perverse meta-message by featuring duration as a positive dimension of exercise. You’ll notice that “the most active members” of the HIIT group are listed by descending order of workload. A much better measure would be to list exercise by intensity. A Swedish study of 44,000 men showed that men who exercised for 5 or more hours a week at age 30 were 19% more likely to develop an irregular heartbeat by 60 years of age than men who exercised 1 hour or less weekly. A German study found that people who exercised every day were more than twice as likely to die of a heart attack or stroke as those exercising 2-4 x a week. Research shows that 2 weeks of interval training can increase VO2max as much as up to 2 full months of endurance training.... Even with 90% lower training volume.Your goal when exercising should be to get the most intense workout in the shortest amount of time...then let your body fully recover. Maximize intensity, not exercise load.

    This App shows you countdown timer for target heart rate level. So when you finish your interval, this will provide you time estimate when you will reach heart level of 110. The time will automatically start to show the rest time, when heart rate had dropped more than beats in last 10 seconds. And it will keep showing this, until you start the session and heart rate goes up again.

    Average pace last km. Based on avg speed previous lap and avg speed current lap (weighted average). Formula based on avg speed instead of avg pace, because variable average_pace doesn't work properly. Auto lap should be set to 1km.
