You still can get a "ticket" to Vasa, if You wish. Usually there are many who can not take part and will sell their seats. Even this year on Saturday before the race at Sälen's race office door were bibs for sale. Just the risk is to get there into woods without having a bib booked earlier. The name change is easy and around 200SEK. At teh same time with Vasa is it Pirkkan Hiihto in Fin, around 1000 participants, 90km as well.

Thanks for the info. Yes Pirkan Hiihto is on the same weekend as Vasa. I've done Pirkka a couple years ago and it was great. What attracts me with Vasa is that it is more than twice as big as Pirkka when it comes to the number of participants :)

See you all in 2013. This year I sold my ticket the day before, for 500 Skr, because of illness. It’s a nice race. But the nicest of them all are Holmenkollen Ski marathon some weeks before in Oslo, Norway. (Okay I am from the area :-)

Wow! Vasaloppet 2013 was sold out in 11 days. I guess I won't be going there next year then :p Any recommendations about similar mass skiing events in the Nordics next year?

Where do yoou want to ski and in which technique? Have a look at the Euroloppet website, their races are pretty good. The German Kammlauf is also a good challenge.
