1/31/2019 Very cold
-23F and a little breezy. It’s polar vortex season and this morning was record breaking so I had to go out. Ian came along for the experience. Great times!!!
Another sunny and cold run. The polar vortex is definitely here. We made the best of it and did what we could. My legs are a bit sore from yesterday’s race but no one was in the mood to really pick it up anyway.
Hills and chills with Ian Ken Leo and Sanford. It was damn cold (7F/-14C) fun times staying warm. Decent pace and temperature training for next weekend’s race.
Paleozoic 50k. Fantastic time! Ran with Shawn and Ian until Shawn started getting negative. He told us to drop him so Ian and I did the last 12 together. Shawn’s 2nd and Ian’s 1st 50k. We shaved matched ugly mustaches and took the pics with the 80s rock shirts. This is probably the last race of the year so I wanted to do something kind of stupid to celebrate.
Somehow managed a decent race after 15 miles. 5th Overall, 1st in Age group. It was a tough field of local racers. As I looked around I noticed it was going to be fun and fast but everyone was in a different AG so that was a lock but the overall is what everyone was going for. I’m a proud coach as well, my young athlete Jack took 3rd OA.
Leg day! Highlight was a 5x5 block of leg press at 600lbs
10/14/2018 Race Glacial Trail 50 Mile
This was totally badass!! Way better than the originally planned race. I left everything on this extremely difficult technical course. Lots of memories and of course a few new friends. Toughest run of my life so far. 18th overall.
