THERE IS A SMALL ERROR IN THIS FORMULA. INCLINE IS MEASURED ON HORIZONTAL DISTANCE. this formula measures horizontal distance (principle of Pythagoras):
/* While in sport mode do this once per second */
slope = (SUUNTO_LAP_ASCENT / Suunto.sqrt( (SUUNTO_LAP_DISTANCE * 1000 * SUUNTO_LAP_DISTANCE * 1000) - (SUUNTO_LAP_ASCENT * SUUNTO_LAP_ASCENT) ) ) * 100;
RESULT = slope;
For Skitouring the incline between two points would be, what you need to now, as the distance you go is not the direct distance between the lowest point and the highest point on a slope. Is it possible to save the two waypoints (lowest/highest point), the distance and height difference between the two points, than you get a real valuable inlince for judging on avalange risk for the measured slope ... could you do this with the current programming tools?
